Five Wise Quotes About Anger, Brought To You By ARISE Life Skills Curricula and Training

February 26, 2009
  • floating1A man is about as big as the things that make him angry -Winston Churchill
  • Not the fastest horse can catch a word spoken in anger -Chinese proverb
  • Do not teach your children never to be angry; teach them how to be angry.  -Lyman Abbott
  • Resentment is an extremely bitter diet, and eventually poisonous.  I have no desire to make my own toxins.  -Neil Kinnock
  • Consider how much more you often suffer from your anger and grief, than from those very things for which you are angry and grieved.  -Marcus Antonius

Anger is a poisonous emotion.  Each moment you are angry, your heart races, your body tenses up, your mind shuts down and your immune system weakens. A life spent in anger and resentment is a life wasted.

It’s not always easy to let go of anger. People often need guidance on how to consciously choose peace over conflict. If you or someone you know needs help controlling your emotions, ARISE can help.  The CHOICES: Drop It At The Door program teaches participants how to shed negative emotions and stop the boomerang effect of stress and anxiety ricocheting between home and work. Stop bringing your troubles at home into the workplace and vice versa. Relax and choose your own thoughts.  It is possible.

February 18, 2009

obama-measure-up-posterballoon-poster-color-finalIn its continuous effort to find fresh, interesting ways to get in under the radar of at-risk and incarcerated youth, ARISE Foundation has created a series of empowering posters that use compelling images and pointed phrases to teach lessons about vital life skills.

Each poster illustrates a fundamental skill or drives home a point in a simple, straightforward manner. Susan and Edmund Benson, the founders of ARISE Foundation, believe that the best way to reach young people is through potent images and easily understood, engaging lessons. The ARISE Motivational posters touch on key issues facing at-risk populations: drug and alcohol abuse, staying in school, domestic violence, self esteem, gang violence, anger management, graffiti and much more. The ARISE posters use original artwork and catchy phrases to get kids and teens thinking.

ARISE motivational posters can be used to inspire group discussions. They are a fantastic tool to engage youth and get them talking about their own experiences and opinions. Each poster is a self-contained life skills lesson. They stand on their own or can be used to enhance the activities in the ARISE Life Skills library. The impact of a gripping image and a powerful phrase cannot be overstated. Each poster has the potential to reach at-risk youth the way nothing else can

To view and purchase posters in a wide variety of sizes, visit the ARISE website. There are even free ARISE motivational posters available for download.
